Janhvi Kapoor is Sridevi’s older daughter.
Janhvi Kapoor had opened up about Sridevi’s death in the new episode of Koffee With Karan 8. However, this is not the first time she’s spoken about it.
Janhvi Kapoor opened up about her mother Sridevi’s death on the recent episode of Koffee With Karan. Janhvi was joined by her sister Khushi Kapoor and was seen revealing her first reaction when she learnt Sridevi had passed away. However, this is not the first time that Janhvi spoke about Sridevi’s shocking death. In an interview in 2018, months after Sridevi died, Janhvi opened up about Sridevi’s last day with Janhvi. She said that Sridevi put Janhvi to sleep before she left for her flight to Dubai.
Sridevi died in February 2018. She was attending Boney Kapoor’s nephew, Arjun Marwah’s wedding. she died of accidental drowning. Janhvi revealed that Sridevi was busy packing when Janhvi asked her to help her sleep. Speaking with Karan Johar for Vogue India, Janhvi said (as quoted by NDTV), “The day before she left for the wedding (Mohit Marwah’s wedding in UAE), I had to shoot, but I couldn’t sleep, so I was like, ‘I need you to come and put me to sleep.’ But she was packing, so by the time she came to me I was half asleep. But I could feel her patting my head.”
She revealed that Sridevi had watched 25 minutes of Janhvi’s debut film Dhadak and had given her feedback as well. “She was very technical about it. The first thing she told me was the things I needed to improve – she felt the mascara was smudged and it really bothered her. The second half has to be different, she told me, ‘You can’t wear anything on your face.’ That’s all she told me but she was happy,” Janhvi said.
Dhadak released a few months after Sridevi’s death. The film also starred Ishaan Khatter, marking his Bollywood debut as well. In the recent episode of Koffee With Karan 8, Janhvi revealed she learnt about Sridevi’s death over a phone call and rushed to Khushi’s room to be with her.
