WhatsApp has announced a series of new business-centric features coming to the app during the WhatsApp Conversations event, including Flows, easier purchasing, and Meta Verified for Businesses.
WhatsApp claims that one billion users message businesses each week on WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram Direct. Whether it’s making inquiries with brands, browsing product catalogs, seeking support, interacting with stories, this is one of the reasons why we are witnessing a growing emphasis on developing the business side of the platform.
What Is WhatsApp Flows?
The Flows feature, according to WhatsApp, allows for a “richer in-chat” experience, enabling better experiences with activities like booking your train seat, ordering a meal, or booking an appointment—without having to leave your chat.
Furthermore, WhatsApp claims that enterprises will be able to choose from a series of “flexible, pre-made building blocks” so that they can create custom and meaningful experiences for their customers. The feature is expected to roll out to WhatsApp business users in the coming weeks.
Meta Verified For Businesses
Meta, earlier this year, introduced the ability to get verified on Instagram and Facebook for individual users by paying a monthly fee. Now, it is bringing similar functionality for Businesses on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. They will be able to subscribe to the service by paying a monthly fee, entitling them to get a verified badge, account support, impersonation protection, and other premium features. It will first begin rolling out to Facebook and Instagram businesses in select countries in the coming weeks, and later, it will trickle down to WhatsApp as well.
WhatsApp Payment-to-Merchant
WhatsApp is expanding its payments service to all WhatsApp Business users in India. The popular chat app will now make it easier to complete a purchase directly in a WhatsApp chat. “Starting today, people in India can add items to their cart and send a payment using the method of their choice from all supported UPI apps, debit and credit cards, and more,” WhatsApp said. It added, “We’re excited to be working with partners Razorpay and PayU to make paying for something as simple as sending a message.”
