Partner Content | Best NBA prop picks December 2: Bet on Wiggins to hit from deep

After a Thursday slate that included a single NBA game, there are 11 contests on an action-packed Friday.

The pregame narrative: Andrew Wiggins has been a lights-out shooter this year, and he’ll enjoy a soft matchup on Friday. Jalen Green is starting to emphasize ball movement and Franz Wagner has been an extremely consistent scorer in recent weeks.

NBA prop picks

Best Bet: Wiggins over 2.5 threes (+132)

Ever since Wiggins joined the Golden State Warriors, his inclination to take 3-pointers — and his success from beyond the arc — has steadily increased.

Time period 3-pointers made/game 3-pointers attempted/game 3-point%
2015-2020 1.2 3.6 33.2%
2020-2021 2.0 5.2 38.0%
2021-2022 2.2 5.5 39.3%
2022-2023 2.9 6.7 42.9%

Not only has Wiggins been a more dangerous shooter than ever this season, he’s been even better lately. In his last nine games, he’s hit 3.4 threes per game on 7.4 attempts — good for 46.3% efficiency from behind the line.

He may not continue that level of hot shooting, but it’s encouraging that his attempts keep trending up. Wiggins has two games with 10 or more shots from beyond the arc since November 20. He did that just once in 73 games last season.

The Canadian will also enjoy an easy matchup on Friday night against a Chicago Bulls team that allows opponents to hit 37.9% of their threes — the second-highest percentage in the league.

Chicago also struggles with small forwards like Wiggins, allowing the fifth-most points against them on a per-game basis (23.7) and the fourth-most 3-pointers (3.01).

Key stat: Wiggins has hit three or more 3-pointers in seven of his last nine games.

Quick picks

Green over 4.5 assists (-109): Although Green has a reputation as a pure gunner, he’s been making a concerted effort to spread the ball around more in recent weeks. If we split his season into approximate halves, the difference in his shooting and assist numbers makes it clear his game plan has changed.

Split Shots/game Assists/game
First 11 games 18.3 2.3
Last 10 games 16.0 5.8

We expect him to keep sharing the ball and hit an over he’s failed to clear just twice in his last 10 appearances.

Wagner over 17.5 points (-109): Wagner won’t have the easiest day going against the Cleveland Cavaliers defence, but this is a line he’s cleared in eight of his last nine games and 13 of his last 15. The two times he fell short he did so by a single point.

Paolo Banchero’s return to the lineup could theoretically threaten Wagner’s workload, but in the four games since the rookie came back the German has averaged 21 points per contest.
