On Camera, Collapsing Under-Construction Bridge in Bihar’s Supaul; One Dead, Several Trapped – News18

At least one person was killed and nine others were injured after an under-construction bridge collapsed in Bihar’s Supaul on Friday morning. The incident took place at Maricha, between Bheja and Bakaur, when a slab of an under-construction bridge being built over the Kosi River collapsed.

Several construction workers are feared to be trapped under the debris. The authorities are on the spot and the rescue operations have been started with the help of local volunteers.

The country’s longest road bridge is being built between Bakour in Supaul and Bheja in Madhubani district. According to reports, the bridge is being built at a cost of Rs 984 crore.

As per sources, the slabs of pillar numbers 50, 51 and 52 of the bridge have collapsed.

“One dead, nine others are injured. Rescue operations are taking place. Will update the figures accordingly,” the district magistrate of Supaul, Kaushal Kumar said.
