MS Dhoni links up with Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2024

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni landed in Chennai to join the defending champions on Tuesday ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The defending champions posted a picture of Dhoni, who led them to their fifth title last season, exiting a vehicle on social media, captioning it ”#THA7A Dharisanam!” Speculation is rife that this season will be Dhoni’s final one as a player.

Dhoni guided CSK to a record-breaking fifth title the previous season, with a thrilling five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the final. The ‘Captain Cool’ was dismissed for a golden duck in the title clash, but Ravindra Jadeja got his team over the line by scoring ten off the last two balls. Following the historic victory, Dhoni ecstatically pulled Jadeja onto his shoulder in a beautiful moment that quickly spread over social media.

Notably, the 42-year-old fought a knee injury throughout the 2023 season and was greeted with thunderous cheers every time he stepped onto the pitch. He compared his vintage best of 104 runs from 12 innings the previous season to his greatest-ever strike rate in an IPL season of 182.46, clobbering three fours and ten sixers. Speculations were rife that IPL 2023 would be Dhoni’s final season with CSK, especially after the 42-year-old led his team to a remarkable fifth championship. Dhoni, on the other hand, informed his large fan following that he would surely participate in the IPL 2024, hoping to demonstrate his gratitude to his supporters for their persistent support.

Last year, the 42-year-old generally batted around the conclusion of CSK innings. CSK began their pre-season training camp on Saturday, with the first batch of CSK players arriving the day before. Deepak Chahar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Simarjeet Singh, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Mukesh Choudhary, Prashant Solanki, Ajay Mandal, Shaik Rasheed, and Nishant Sindhu (all-rounder) have already arrived. CSK will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22
