IIT JEE Aspirant Dies By Suicide In Kota, Fourth Such Case This Year – News18

An eighteen-year-old student studying at a coaching centre in Kota, Rajasthan, reportedly died by suicide in his PG room this morning. According to NDTV, he was preparing for the Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE).

The student identified as Shubh Choudhary, a Jharkhand native had been preparing for JEE-Mains to gain admission to the country’s top engineering colleges, such as IITs. He had spent the past two years in Kota. This happens to be the fourth case of alleged suicide by a student studying at a coaching centre in Kota this year.

Shubh was taken aback to learn that his JEE Mains score was lower than he had anticipated when the results were released, an NDTV report said.  He then made his way back to his hostel room. According to reports, his body had been found this morning hanging from the ceiling of the room.

His room is being searched by police for any more information or a suicide note. The student’s family was notified by the authorities, and once they arrive in Kota, an autopsy will be performed.

In the meantime, the Kota Police stopped an alleged suicide by a NEET aspirant a few days ago. During counselling, the 19-year-old student admitted to authorities that he was depressed over the suicide of a friend from an online PUBG group. The NEET aspirant arrived in Kota a mere ten days ago, police said. The student admitted that he was acting on instructions from his peers in Varanasi and was safely handed back to his family members following counselling.
