An Army soldier reportedly died due to an accidental discharge of a firearm within the confines of the 14 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora. Another official suffered serious injuries in the accident.
The incident occurred when a serving member of the 14 RR of the Indian Army accidentally discharged his firearm, killing one soldier on the spot.
“There has been an accidental discharge of weapon resulting in one fatal casualty and one injury to army personnel. Accused army personnel has been detained. Necessary legal action has been initiated,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police said in its statement after the incident.
