Their latest victory came against Sri Lanka on September 12 was unquestionably a treat for fans. A special moment from the match is going viral across social media where Rohit could be seen asking an Indian supporter to wave the tri-colour high in the air.

The Indian skipper tried to charge up the atmosphere. He asked a fan to hold the flag high and wave it with pride. Dropping a clip of the event, a fan wrote on X, “Rohit Sharma telling fans to keep waving the Indian flag. What a man.”

India went into the game on the back of a remarkable win over Pakistan in the opening Super 4 fixture. Considering the slower nature of the wicket, Rohit Sharma elected to bat first. The Lankan bowling unit pulled off a commendable start as they sent the Indian top order early to the pavilion. Rohit was the only standout batter as he smashed his third consecutive half-century of the tournament. En route to his 53-run knock, the Indian opener achieved a historic feat by completing 10,000 runs in ODI cricket.

However, the upcoming Indian batters failed to keep the scoreboard ticking and folded up the innings for a mere 213 runs. It might look like an easy deal for Sri Lanka, but Indian spinners could change the equation and bowled out the hosts for 172 runs.

Kuldeep Yadav continued his sublime form and grabbed a four-wicket haul while Ravindra Jadeja got two under his belt. Among the pacers, Jasprit Bumrah fetched two scalps and Mohammad Siraj took one.
