Toronto homeowners discover their house had been sold without them knowing

While the owners of a Toronto home were out of town, it’s alleged two suspects impersonated them using fake ID, hired a real estate agent and sold their property without their knowledge, according to the Toronto Police Service in a news release.

Toronto Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects, one male and one female, in this ongoing fraud investigation. Police have released a photo of the suspects.

Out of the country since January 2022 for work, the real homeowners discovered that their property was sold without their consent several months later. Police said the home, in Etobicoke, was sold and placed into the possession of the new homeowners.

“This is an active and on going investigation,” a spokesperson for the Toronto Police said. “Anyone with information or a victim of such a scam is asked to report it to police.”

No further information has been provided.
