This UP Vendor Earns Rs 1.5 Lakh Per Month By Selling Roasted Potatoes – News18

One roadside shop in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh is earning thousands per day by capitalising on the demand of roasted potatoes in the area.

Potatoes are one of the starchy vegetables which can be both healthy and delicious. They have several nutritional components such as potassium, magnesium and Vitamin C. It is also beneficial for the blood circulation. In winter, the dishes made from hot potatoes are the choice of many Indians. Items like potato fritters and baked garlic potatoes are favoured by many. One roadside shop in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh is earning thousands of rupees per day by capitalising on the demand of roasted potatoes in the area. Locals are often seen enjoying potatoes with butter and special chutney spices at the shop. It is owned by Akash Saxena.

While interacting with Local18, Akash Saxena said that his father Sipahi Lal had set up this shop 23 years ago. After his father’s death, Akash decided to take responsibility for the stall and has been successfully running it since then. He said that he earns around Rs 4000-5000 every day from this business. He uses 50 kilos to 1 quintal of potatoes each day. The roasted potatoes are sold for Rs 100 per kg in the market. He roasts the potatoes in the sand which he claims to be from the banks of river Ganga.

Akash explained the method of preparation of the chutney. He said that it is prepared from coriander, after grinding it with other special spices. He prepares his masala from the spices which are obtained from the market. The combination of chutney and roasted potato creates a spicy taste, which is loved by the locals of Farrukhabad.

Akash Saxena also said that earlier there was not much consumption of roasted potatoes in the state. The prevalence of this dish has increased in the last five years. Despite the high price of roasted potatoes, the sale of this dish is continuously increasing. The prime requirement of this dish is high-quality potatoes. Akash Saxena claims that the potatoes which he uses for the dish are sugar-free. He prepares it in a big pan along with the sand. He places the potatoes according to their size.
