Aggarwal took to twitter to put forth his views on import duties. He said, “Strongly disagree with both. Let’s have confidence in our ability to build indigenously and also attract global OEMs to build in India, not just import. We won’t be the first country to do so!.”
His tweet came in a response to a tweet about Hyundai MD S S Kim saying that lower import duties on EVs will help grow the EV market in India.

Recently, as a response to a tweet about launching Tesla cars in India, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had said, “We want to do so, but import duties are the highest in the world by far of any large country”.
“But we are hopeful that there will be at least a temporary tariff relief for electric vehicles. That would be much appreciated,” he had said.

As of now, India imposes 60%-100% import duties on fully imported cars with CIF *(Cost, Insurance and Freight).
Ola is pushing for an indegenoius manufacture of electric mobility options. It is manufacturing electric scooters at its plant in Tamil Nadu, which is claimed to be the the world’s largest factory for electric scooters with an annual production capacity of 2 million units.
Ola is all set to launch its much-anticipated electric scooter soon in India. It has received an overwhelming response from round the corner with more than one lakh bookings within the first 24 hours of opening reservations of its electric scooter.
The company also plans to set up Ola Hypercharger network which will have more than 100000 charging points across 400 cities.
