The 43-second-long teaser follows a storyline which is expected to be fully revealed on the day of the launch. With the new teaser, Hyundai also confirmed that the Ioniq 5 will be launched in mid-February.
The Ioniq 5 will be the first car to be based on Hyundai’s EV-dedicated Electric Global Modular Platform, in short E-GMP. The E-GMP was introduced to offer enhanced efficiency, faster-charging capability and increased driving range. The E-GMP also allows the automaker to present the Ioniq 5’s interior as a smart living space while also increasing handling and stability.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be equipped with an 800-volt onboard charger which will support 11kWh AC charging or up to 232kWh DC ultra-fast charging. The battery guarantees high performance, and also weight and space optimization. Hyundai has claimed that the Ioniq 5 can charge from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes.
The new teaser gives a closer look of the Ioniq 5’s exterior detailing. Hyundai Ioniq 5 adopts the signature Parametric Pixels in its design language to stand out in the BEV segment and also reflect the automaker’s fundamental shift in design approach. The Ioniq 5’s front profile gets an array of pixel-inspired lights which symbolize the digital technology adopted by the car.
The Ioniq 5 features a clamshell hood that spans the entire width of the car giving it a clean look and minimizing the panel gaps at the same time. The EV will also boast the new 20-inch rims, largest to be ever fitted in a Hyundai EV. The aero-optimized wheels complement the Parametric Pixel design theme.
Recently, the automaker also revealed some new capabilities of the Ioniq 5 which include a 100 km range with a 5-minute charge only (WLTP standard). The EV also boasts Vehicle to Load (V2L) tech that provides general electric power inside and outside the car (110V/220V). The V2L supplier comes with a 3.5kW source.
