The new BMW is a two-door compact sporty saloon and features numerous hallmark ingredients that make it unique in its segment.
The car is powered by a powerful in-line, 6-cylinder engine and features a 50:50 balanced axle load distribution.
The car will be the latest addition to BMW’s performance two-doors
The range-topping M240i xDrive Coupé features a 374 hp engine and is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. It also uses BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system to take care of the handling.
The 2 Series has been extensively tested at the Nürburgring. BMW say that the track is ideally suited for refining the underpinnings of the car. It was used to improve the interaction of the all-wheel-drive system with the M sports differential in the rear-axle transmission. Testing has also been done for the variable locking effect generated by the onboard electric motor. The differential aids the new car in cornering better while ensuring traction and driving stability.
Every 2 Series Coupé will feature a torsion-resistant body structure which will improve the balance between sportiness and ride comfort. The Adaptive M Chassis is offered as an optional extra for the car. Every car will also feature stroke-dependent dampers as standard. They have been tuned to respond to even the slightest of road unevenness and compensate vibrations to maximize comfort. Available as an optional extra is also the variable Sports Steering. It combines further precision when steering into bends with reduced steering effort when parking and maneuvering.
The new BMW 2 Series Coupé will be manufactured in late summer 2021. It will continue the company’s legacy of powerful two-door models which are built around the driver.
There is a slim possibility of 2 Series Coupe arriving in India in 2022. The German carmaker earlier in 2020 introduced the Gran Coupe variant of 2 Series here, which was placed as the entry-level sedan in the portfolio.
