The Centre on Friday extended the tenure of Samant Kumar Goel, the secretary of intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing, by one more year. Goel, a 1984 batch IPS officer of Punjab cadre, will serve as the secretary of the agency till June 30 next year.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet also approved the appointment of Tapan Kumar Deka as the new director of the Intelligence Bureau. Deka, a 1988 IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, will assume the post for a tenure of two years from June 30.
