Stock market holiday: BSE, NSE closed today due to Dussehra

There will be no trading at the stock markets on Tuesday on account of Dussehra. Market activities across all segments, including equity, derivatives, currency, and SLB, will remain shut throughout the day, according to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) website.

The trading in equity segment takes place on all days, except weekends, and holidays declared by the exchanges in advance. Dussehra marks the stock market’s 11th and final holiday (nine closures due to weekends) this month, with Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) being the first; three more holidays are left for the year: Diwali Balipratipada (November 12), Gurunanak Jayanti (November 27) and Christmas (December 15).

In September, meanwhile, both BSE and NSE (National Stock Exchange) were closed only on one day – September 19 – for Ganesh Chaturthi. Republic Day (January 26) was the first of 15 stock market holidays in 2023.

Nifty, on the other hand, fell 260.90 points (1.34%) to finish trading at 19,281.75, recording, as per Reuters, its worst session in more than seven months.
