Odisha will host the Odisha Open Super 100 from January 25-30 next year.
The tournament which is likely to be held in Cuttack, will belong to the lowest tier of BWF Tour events and is in essence Hyderabad Masters Super 100, which was held until 2019, shifting venues.
“Yes, for next year we are having the event in Odisha. Gopichand has been handling the event in Hyderabad and he spoke to the Odisha government about hosting it next year. They were happy to come on board,” BAI secretary Ajay Singhania told ESPN.
In its calendar announced on Thursday, BWF, India Open Super 100 has been scheduled as the first tournament of the year which will run from January 11-16 while the Syed Modi India International Super 300 will be held from January 18-23 and will be followed by the Odisha Open, making it three events in a row in the country.
“The calendar is based on the principle of cluster tournaments throughout Asia as well as traditional European tournament stops where the prospect of travel in that region is more viable,” BWF said in its statement.
