PV Sindhu’s bronze shone bright over Sunday as (arguably) India’s greatest badminton player won her second Olympic medal in two Olympics. This was followed up with the Indian men’s hockey team making their first Olympic semifinal since 1972 [there were no semis in 1980].
Today promises to be another big day. We have India’s national record holder in the women’s discus throw (Kamalpreet Kaur) and India’s fastest woman (Dutee Chand) in action as well as the Indian women’s hockey team, who have gone farther into the Olympics than any before them. The last of the Indian shooters – Aishwary Pratap Tomar and Sanjeev Rajput — are in action early today as well.
Oh, and Foaaud Mirza and Seigneur Medicott have a final today as well.
