Get Ball by Ball Commentary of Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, Indian Premier League 2021, 19th Match |

3.30pm Here we go. Siraj to start off against Gaikwad. Slip in place.

nick: “yes @Srihari , it is widely said that ‘no match is over until Daniel Cristian comes to bat'”

Chennai Super Kings: 1 Faf du Plessis, 2 Ruturaj Gaikwad, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 Ambati Rayudu, 5 Ravindra Jadeja, 6 MS Dhoni (capt, wk), 7 Sam Curran, 8 Dwayne Bravo, 9 Shardul Thakur, 10 Imran Tahir, 11 Deepak Chahar

Royal Challengers Bangalore: 1 Virat Kohli (capt), 2 Devdutt Padikkal, 3 Glenn Maxwell, 4 AB de Villiers (wk), 5 Washington Sundar, 6 Dan Christian, 7 Kyle Jamieson, 8 Harshal Patel, 9 Navdeep Saini, 10 Yuzvendra Chahal, 11 Mohammad Siraj

Srihari R: “@Josh W, how does Christian not bat? Saw a stat somewhere that he had one of the highest SRs in the death overs, along with the likes of ABD and Polly. If he fires, that’ll provide some insurance for RCB’s top order superstars” — I’m guessing he meant he literally doesn’t bat, as in bats too little at the back end.

Anant: “Every team has a bad match in the season. Even though I am a RCB fan would not mind if that bad day happens today rather than later in the tournament ” — Today?! Is this not the one match you’d want to win as an RCB fan?

Josh W: “I don’t understand the Dan Christian pick when he doesn’t really bowl or bat… I’d rather some explosive runs from Finn Allen”

Dilip: “RCB should consider playing Finn Allen at some point as their fourth overseas player. He could bat at No 3. Their batting gets even stronger and it won’t weaken their bowling.”

3.06pm The lack of dew has empowered the two teams to tweak their bowling attacks, it seems. And, of course, Moeen’s fitness has played a role for CSK. He’s probably been their most valuable player so far, so that’s a big miss. What do you make of RCB’s batting line-up? Thin? Or stronger, with Christian’s batting over Shahbaz? By the way, this is only the second time a team has chosen to bat first at Wankhede since 2017.

Sheshachala G S: “@Azweer: Moeen played exceptionally well when he was part of RCB too. It was a real surprise (for me at least) when he was released from the team this time.”

RajatMaheshwari: “Yes the RCB batting line-up looks a bit thin as they would have wanted Maxi to continue batting at 4 and AB at 5. It will be interesting who will bat where after the openers! Looks to me that Sundar will bat at No.3! “

Advait : “Saini comes in so he can ball those bouncers to Raina, Rayudu and Moeen who prefer spin. Great move by Kohli and RCB management.”

RCBian: “So glad that Ali bhai is not playing! Guys who have just left Rcb have a bad habit of playing an important knock against us! “

Azweer: “Moeen unfit – the news breaks so many csk hearts.”

Kohli: Happy to be bowling, we’ve stacked up our bowling accordingly. Richardson misses out and Christian comes back in as finisher. Shahbaz misses out and Saini comes in. We have players to bowl cutters so we wanted someone like Saini to go hard up front. It’s easy to look at the table and focus on what others are doing rather than your thing; that’s something we’ve done good so far.

Dhoni: Heat is a factor and chances the wicket will slow down, so that’s why we’re batting first. It’s not about keeping anyone happy, all of us have got some kind of batting, you’ll always complain if you have enough batting or not but you can’t really manage that. You can try and give exposure in situations but you can’t guarantee that. Managing yourself is key, it’s a day game so it’ll be different from the games we’ve played with dew. Have to figure out lengths quickly. The spinners may come in to it a lot more. Moeen is not fit, and Lungi makes way. Bravo and Tahir come in.

3pm Chennai Super Kings have elected to bat.

2.53pm Not long for the toss now and there’s nothing really to report from the huddles and such. These are probably the two teams least likely to change their XIs at this point. Here are our fantasy picks for this game with Dale Steyn.

2.44pm We put newly minted IPL centurion Devdutt Padikkal on the spot in a rapid-fire round: Messi or Ronaldo? Sambar dip or separate? Triple-century or six sixes in an over?

RajatMaheshwari: “I think Rajat should come in for Shahbaz as Shabhaz will not bowl due to the amount of left-handers CSK has in their ranks and Sams could get a look in place of Richardson to provide the different variety to their bowling attack!”

Abhinandan : “@pranav Why do you think RCB need a reality check. They have been the most consistent performing team this IPL and they have defeated all previous champions in their last 4 games. This is new RCB.”

Vicky: “@Abhinandan: IPL’s El Clasico is MI vs CSK !!!”

Mayank: “Good to see the COVID precaution gesture from team cricinfo. We seriously need to follow these and lock ourselves up in homes.. and enjoy IPL with cricinfo, eh!!”

2.39pm Should Chennai persist with Ngidi? Should Bengaluru stick with their XI? Dale Steyn and Ajit Agarkar discuss.

Srihari R: “Soooo hyped for this contest. Dosa derby, Kavery derby, whatever you wanna call it. Mahi vs Kohli, 2 legends going against each other, top of the table clash as well. Also, Kohli is the highest run getter for RCB against CSK, and MSD likewise against RCB. The stats, the setting, everything promises that this is going to be a banger. Hope that it is well and truly the case!”

SAMRAT AHUJA: “Will Jason Behrendoff play today? Virat has had some trouble against left arm quicks!”

Abhinandan : “IPL’s El-Classico is back. The rivalry between these two teams is unparalleled. This will be the 1st time RCB will be facing CSK as a table toppers.”

Akhilesh: “Probably the most awaited contest of the IPL so far. 1 v 2 and it’s also the clash of two of the biggest fan bases of the league. Whoever wins the game would definitely have a stake in claiming the title-favourite spot. And if all that wasn’t enough, it’s Kohli v Dhoni.”

Pranav: “RCB need a reality check (for their good) and CSK should be more than willing to hand it to them “

2.30pm Good afternoon and welcome back to our coverage of the IPL. Today’s double-header day begins with a derby. It’s Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, a pretty serious day for the two sets of supporters. And always, always, a big day in the tournament. CSK weren’t going very well when these teams first met last season, but it’s a different story now. It’s 1 vs 2 today. RCB the only team without a loss in the tournament so far. A loss to CSK and they will lose the top spot. Here is the preview for today’s first game: RCB and CSK grapple for top spot in clash of fire and ice
