Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that some reforms may seem unfair initially but they will benefit the country later. Modi’s remarks came amid massive protests across the country against the government’s new Agnipath military scheme. The PM, however, made no reference to the scheme during his speech.

“Several decisions look unfair at present. In time, those decisions will help in building the nation,” the prime minister said while addressing a public gathering in Bengaluru.

Earlier today, PM Modi arrived in Bengaluru on a two-day visit to Karnataka. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for rail and road infrastructure projects worth over Rs 28,000 crores in the state capital. He will also inaugurate India’s first air-conditioned railway station in Bengaluru, 100 per cent electrification of the Konkan railway line and launch 150 Technology Hubs.

He is visiting the state for a 2-day tour after one-and-a-half years. He arrived at the Bengaluru Yelahanka Indian Air Force Base and will be participating in 10 programmes organised in Bengaluru and Mysuru cities, including the International Yoga Day on June 21.
