Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said that BJP leader Kirit Somaiya will soon be served with a legal notice for “levelling baseless allegations against” him and “slinging mud” at his party colleagues. While Raut didn’t specify the said allegation, Kirit Somaiya recently had alleged irregularities in setting up Covid-19 centres by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, country’s richest civic body.
“Kirit Somaiya alias Popatlal of the BJP hs been levelling baseless allegations against me & slinging mud at Shivsena leaders for a while (sic),” Raut said in a tweet.
“I have initiated legal action & Mr Popatlal will soon be served with a legal notice. Truth shall prevail soon.”
Alleging a ₹100 crore scam in setting up of jumbo Covid-19 centre, Somaiya had claimed that the BMC decided to give the contract to a “partner” of Sanjay Raut before the company was even born.
“BMC decided to give ₹100 crore COVID Center Contract to Sujeet Patker (Sanjay Raut Partner ) Lifeline Hospital Management Services on 24 April 2020,” Somaiya said while posting some documents on Twitter.
“Sujeet Patker (Sanjay Raut Partner ) Lifeline Hospital Management Services on 24 April 2020 but the Partnership was entered on 26 June 2020,” he added. “ ₹100 Contact given before the company was born”
The BMC rejected the allegations saying only ₹33.13 crore has been spent on providing manpower at two such facilities in the city. BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal in a statement said, A sum of ₹33.13 crore is spent for providing manpower at Dahisar and NSCI Jumbo COVID-19 centres together, so the allegation of ₹100 crore scam is baseless.”
The amount paid by the BMC is only for the salaries of doctors, nurses, technicians and ward boys, and no complaints were received regarding non-receipt of salaries, he added.
