Russia Says Border Incursion Foiled As Pro-Ukraine Militias Claim Capture Of Kursk Village – News18


The governor of Russia’s Kursk region has said that an armed group from Ukraine tried to cross the Russian border. The attempt has been deflected, and the border has not been breached, governor Roman Starovoit added. At least two Ukraine-based armed groups opposed to Putin launched an incursion across Russia’s western border on March 12. The Freedom of Russia Legion and the Siberian Battalion both announced that they had launched attacks into Russia from Ukraine. “We will take our land from the regime centimetre by centimetre”, The Freedom of Russia Legion said in its Telegram post.Ukraine’s military intelligence said that the groups were conducting the operation on Russian territory independently of Kyiv. Andriy Yusov, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s military intelligence, said a third group, the Russian Volunteer Corps, was also participating in the operation.
