Parliament Security Breach: The Delhi police also want to verify if anyone from Simha’s office was aware or in any way involved in the conspiracy

The Delhi police on Friday asked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Pratap Simha, whose office issued passes to the intruders responsible for the recent parliament security breach, to join the investigation. The police are planning to probe different angles through Simha.

Top sources told CNN-News18 that the Delhi police want to investigate the circumstances in which the parliament passes were issued to the accused, who is one of Simha’s constituents.

Manoranjan D, one of the accused who hailed from Mysuru, introduced co-accused Sagar Sharma as a friend to the MP’s office and got passes issued to them on the pretext of watching the new Parliament, according to sources.

Three passes were issued at the behest of Simha for Wednesday. However, one person, a woman, had to return as she arrived with her child whose name was not mentioned in her pass, sources close to the MP said.

The police also want to verify if anyone from Simha’s office was aware or in any way involved in the conspiracy to breach parliament security and enter the Lok Sabha chambers.

Sources also told Delhi police that they want to understand how the accused approached Simha’s office and if they were desperate to obtain the entry passes. The police also want to know if the intruders had more such references from other MPs.

Pratap Simha is not named as accused in the case but to understand the circumstances, the Delhi police will examine him and his staff, sources said.

Meanwhile, the interrogation of Lalit Mohan Jha, the sixth accused in the Parliament security breach incident and the alleged mastermind, has revealed that the main motive of the group was to send a message and not spread terror through their act.

As per top Intelligence sources, Jha would avidly research the security system in and around Parliament and a crucial lesson he learnt was that technical evidence always stays in the system and can be tracked.

The group was also aware that they needed a foolproof way to garner the media’s attention and hence ruckus in Parliament was the only tactic to get their message across.

Opposition Demands Action Against BJP MP Pratap Simha

The Indian Youth Congress on Thursday staged a protest in central Delhi against BJP MP Pratap Simha over the Parliament security breach.

The TMC also sought the expulsion of BJP MP for facilitating the entry of at least one person who jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber and opened smoke canisters, drawing a parallel with party leader Mahua Moitra’s ouster from the House.

Meanwhile, the Congress workers also staged a protest outside the office of BJP MP Pratap Simha.

Congress workers in large numbers gathered outside the Mysuru MP’s office at Jaladarshini Guest House and raised slogans against him and accused him of being “responsible for what unfolded in the Lok Sabha.”
