Oshawa woman charged with fraud for impersonating a registered practical nurse in long-term-care homes


A 25-year-old woman has been charged with fraud for impersonating a registered practical nurse (RPN), according to Durham Regional Police.

Since 2021, the Oshawa resident has worked at least four senior retirement and long-term-care residences throughout the GTA, police said in a press release.

The suspect allegedly applied for jobs as a RPN using “documentation from various governing bodies which she claimed where hers. The suspect is not registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.”

She has been charged with four counts of fraud over $5000; two counts of uttering a forged document; and one count each of personation with intent and possession of identity information with inference of fraud.

Tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward.
