Maha Shivratri To Good Friday, School Holidays In March 2024 – News18

There are a total of 5 Saturdays and Sundays in March.

Maha Shivratri will be celebrated on March 8 while Holika Dahan will be performed on March 24.

April 2024 will mark the start of a new academic year for the students and they can relax before it in March. Many holidays have been announced in March owing to festivals, mostly for the Hindus and Christians.

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti will be observed on March 5. Maha Shivratri will be celebrated on March 8 while Holika Dahan will be performed on March 24. Holi will be celebrated on March 25 while March 29 will mark Good Friday. March 31 marks Easter which will be observed as another holiday for the school students. There are a total of 5 Saturdays and Sundays as well in March and students will be able to enjoy themselves on these days as well.

Almost all the schools across India remain closed on both Saturday and Sunday. At the same time, in some schools and colleges, the third Saturday or last Saturday is also a holiday. Students can plan their leaves but also need to check the holiday calendar for 2024 for further clarification.

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti is observed as the birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati – the founder of Arya Samaj. Maha Shivratri Puja is a special ceremony performed to honour Lord Shiva or Lord Mahadeva. Holika Dahan symbolises the victory of good over evil. On this day, Hiranyakashyap’s sister Holika was immune to fire. Holika tricked Prahlad into sitting on a pyre with her and hoped that he would perish in the flames. But to everyone’s amazement, it was Holika who was burned to ashes, while Prahlad emerged unscathed. P

Prahlad was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Holi is called the festival of colours and is a vibrant celebration that involves dancing, singing, and throwing water at people.

Good Friday is the day for Christians to commemorate Jesus’s crucifixion. Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion.

In most of the schools, annual examinations will end in the first or second week of March. This will, however, not apply to the students who are attempting the board exams of classes 12th. The class 12 board exams will end on April 2.
