The Korean 10 step routine in skincare was coined around 2015. Korea is the go-to-spot for skincare. Inspiration is stateside. In Korea, skin is always first. They value skin as being more important than makeup or fashion. Their skin secret is that they are using alternative, animal and natural ingredients that a lot of popular skincare brands hadn’t really considered using in the past. They include Green tea, volcanic scoric, snail mucin, pig collagen, bee venom, starfish extract and donkey milk. Scientists are still figuring out how these beauty products actually work. But K Beauty products have got enthusiastic reviews and are here to stay. Plus they are really well made and inexpensive, unlike their western counterparts.

Here are a few K beauty tips to follow.

Triple cleanse daily before applying make up to remove oil, dirt and collected bacteria.

First cleanse- Tissue to remove the oily debris.

Second cleanse – Oil cleanser which is a defeating agent to remove excess oil and sebum.

Third cleanse – Powder cleanser which also acts as a scrub and exfoliating agent removing excess dead cells from the epidermis.

Invest in an extensive skin care routine.

Exfoliating- Toning – Essence – Sleeping Packs

Use Serums and moisturisers by tapping and not rubbing.

Snail mucin, essence, mucin is the slime that is excreted by snails when they are stressed. There is anecdotal evidence that the protein in the slime has anti-ageing properties and improves the skin texture and quality of the skin.

Using your moisturiser layer after layer will give you radiant and glowing skin.
