Children who have parents who are toxic in the sense that they’re addicts or alcoholic or have an unhealthy lifestyle, are pretentious. They pretend that everything is fine on their end. They try and build a narrative that is completely opposite to their reality, something that they wish they’d have, but do not. They showcase a well-to-do family that is supportive, loving and caring, but deep inside everything is actually falling apart. Such kids need people who can understand them and hear their pleas, even when words aren’t spoken out loud.
A toxic parent and a family may not find themselves at fault, but somehow, over time, it’ll have a serious impact on the child’s mind.
