Jamie’s virtual cookbook club is a private group on the social media site. “Super excited to say we’ve started our own cookbook club!! It’s a place to explore AMAZING cookbooks together. The recipes, the cultures, the places, both old and new! It’s all about getting together and celebrating different authors & food from all over the world, getting inspired and trying something a little different!,” reads the book club’s description. The cookbook club aims at celebrating and discussing a new cookbook and author each month. “This is supposed to be a useful, calming, intimate place where we discuss the very best of cookbooks,” Oliver said in a video.
Oliver has picked ‘Vietnamese: Simple Vietnamese food to cook at home’ by Uyen Luu as his first cookbook club pick for July 2021. Talking about the author and her book, Oliver further said in the video, “She has broken the book into bite-sized chapters to make Vietnamese food joyfully delicious. It’s kind of got that rare blend of soulful, thoughtful, emotional stories about (her) childhood… This young lady arrived from post-war Vietnam at the age of 5. I met her by pure fluke when she ran her supper club at her flat.”
Meanwhile, Oliver’s new cookbook ‘Together: Memorable Meals, Made Easy’ is expected to be out on September 2, 2021. The book has more than 130 recipes and it aims at bringing people and families together “after a challenging year apart”.
