1. Keep it light and airy
Palazzos with straight or A-line Kurtis are perfect, irrespective of the occasion. Cigarette or straight pants paired with either Anarkalis, short tunics or straight Kurtis are perfect for a more formal look. From a design perspective, ¾ roll-up or full sleeves, with front button-down pattern and mandarin collar are great for your virtual work calls.
2. Prints and colors
The cool airiness that whites bring to our lives in summer is incomparable to anything else. Having said that, too much white can make Jill a dull girl. We need colors and prints to pump up the summer spirit. Pastels and florals highlight summer like nothing else. The very ‘look’ makes you think of a cool summer evening breeze! Another trend we see is color blocking. Sometimes, you just need some bright, happy, and contrasting colors coming together seamlessly to set a happy tone to your day. Then we have the geometric or abstract prints for that fun yet, formal touch.
3. Play with accessories
Too many accessories will make you uncomfortable. Pair your ethnic wear with finger or toe rings and earrings, while keeping your neck and wrists bare.
4. Choose the right footwear
Drop the heels, stick with Juttis or Kolhapuris. Embellished juttis add the extra zing to your outfit and colored Kolhapuris bring out the “summeriness” of your ensemble.
5. Experiment with cuts
High-low kurtis look great with cigarette or straight pants. Asymmetrical kurtas with printed culottes. Fit and flare dresses in Indian prints are great for the summer. Shararas with short kurtas are also perfect for a summer brunch with family.
