Busy? Make a mug cake in 60 seconds! – Times of India

It’s the age of the mini, when it comes to food, at least. Dishes are turning into smaller servings with teaspoon desserts and two- ingredient recipes. And there’s another indulgence that’s gone leaner – mug cake! Literally made in a mug, this tiny treat requires no fuss or prep and is whipped up in a microwave in just a minute or two! For those with busy WFH lives, this could be just the sweet treat that fits into the schedule. No wonder then that it’s been popping up on feeds all through the lockdown. Here’s how it’s made…

Lots of variety… in a mug

This may be just one little mug, but it holds quite a few fun taste possibilities. Make anything from a plain sponge to gooey chocolate, carrot and pineapple cake and red velvet. Essentially, to make it, you use the ingredients for a normal cake, but in a much smaller proportion and everything is mixed together in the mug. Pop this into the microwave and it’s done!

Banana-chocolate mug cake

  • All-purpose flour – 4 tbsp
  • Baking powder – a pinch
  • Cocoa powder – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Milk – ¼ cup
  • Vegetable oil – 2 tsp
  • Mashed banana – 3 tbsp

Take a mug (it should be microwaveable) and mix the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder. Now add the milk, oil as well as the banana. Mix it well. Top with nuts (optional). Microwave it for a minute. Remove and cool. Enjoy.
