Jemimah Rodrigues reveals her success mantra after hitting maiden WPL fifty

Delhi Capitals star batter Jemimah Rodrigues hit her maiden fifty in the Women’s Premier League during DC’s 29-run win over Mumbai Indians in a top-of-the-table clash. Being a team player, Jemimah expressed her joy regarding the team’s victory and extended her wishes for the Delhi Capitals to maintain their momentum. Reflecting on her innings, the 24-year-old shared that adhering to the advice of staying true to herself contributed to her stellar performance on March 5, Tuesday, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Jemimah received the Player of the Match award for guiding her team to their 4th straight win in the WPL 2024. The Capitals avenged their heartbreaking loss in the tournament opener by securing a 29-run victory over the Mumbai Indians. Jemimah starred with her 33-ball 69 run-knock as she took the team’s total to 192 runs. The highlight of Jemimah’s knock was her acceleration, as she had scored only 13 runs in the first 14 deliveries she faced. The batter went on to score 56 runs in the next 19 deliveries.

WPL 2024, DC vs MI: Highlights

“More than my batting, just happy we won. We wanted to carry forward the momentum. Mumbai Indians is a good team, and we had to be at our best. (On the shots she played) I think I am very happy. It was a crucial time to come in. Not the easiest of wickets, but it suits my style of batting. My team backs me a lot. They believe in me no matter what. I wanted to learn from the mistakes in my last two matches. One of my friends, my dad and even the coaching staff told me to be myself and that is what I did today,” Jemimah said in the post-match presentation.

“After the Test match, I had a couple of days and worked on particular things coming into the WPL. Everyone knows your weaknesses, but you also need to know how to maneuver the gaps. Trying to just play on the bowler’s mind and that worked well for me. Once you do that, you are one step ahead and that helped me (tonight),” Jemimah added.

The Delhi Capitals have been on a roll as they have strengthened their position at the top of the table with 4 wins in 5 matches and a healthy net-run rate. With this win, the Capitals started their home leg on a spectacular note.
