Janhvi Kapoor To Play Sita In Ranbir Kapoor, Yash And Sunny Deol-Starrer Ramayana? What We Know – News18

Ranbir Kapoor is set to play Lord Rama in the film.

Reports are rife that Janhvi Kapoor has replaced Sai Pallavi to play the role of Sita in the film.

Ranbir Kapoor, who has been on a winning streak at the box office with Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Animal, is gearing up to shoot for the grand Indian mythological saga, Ramayana. In this epic, he will be taking on the role of Lord Rama, under the direction of Nitesh Tiwari, known for movies like Chillar Party, Dangal, Chhichhore and Bawaal.

According to reports, Sai Pallavi is expected to portray Goddess Sita, while Yash from KGF, Vijay Sethupathi and Sunny Deol are set to play Ravana, Vibhishan, and Lord Hanuman, respectively.

However, a reliable source has informed Firstpost exclusively that it is Janhvi Kapoor, not Sai Pallavi, who will be taking on the role of Goddess Sita. Having previously worked with Nitesh Tiwari in Bawaal, the filmmaker believes Janhvi is the perfect fit for the character, leading the makers to finalise her for the role.

Recently, Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying, “Sunny Deol is all charged up to have gotten once in a lifetime opportunity to play Lord Hanuman. It’s a casting made in heaven, as Lord Hanuman stands for Strength, and who better than Sunny Deol in the present times to play the part with utmost conviction.”

The actor will start shooting for his part in Ramayana: Part One in May 2024, as per the report. “While Ramayana: Part One features Sunny Deol in a guest appearance, the second and third part of the epic trilogy will have his complete presence. The makers are confident that after Dara Singh, it’s Sunny Deol who would be synonymous with Lord Hanuman in modern times,” the source added.

“It’s a legacy part, and the teams are unfazed by the social media chatter. Ranbir has the utmost respect for Sunny Deol, and the latter considers Ranbir to be one of the finest actors of Indian Cinema. The dynamic shared by the two will be a treat for audiences on the big screen. The idea is to bring to spectacle the pure bond shared by Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman,” the source concluded.
