India opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has heaped praise on skipper Rohit Sharma, saying it’s incredible to have a senior like him around the team. India beat Afghanistan by 6 wickets at the Holkar Stadium in Indore to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

India made light work of their 173-run chase at the Holkar Stadium to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in their T20I series, while extending their unbeaten run against Afghanistan.
Jaiswal, who missed the opening match of the series due to a minor injury, returned in Indore and set the stage alight. Jaiswal and Shivam Dube scored half-centuries as India chased down the target with 6 wickets and 26 balls remaining.
Jaiswal has made an amazing start to his India career, breaking into the Test and T20I teams. He’s scored 316 runs in 4 Test matches at an average of 45.14 while amassing 498 runs in 16 T20Is, averaging 35.57, while striking at 163.81.
In a video released by the BCCI, Jaiswal says Rohit asks him to play his natural game, adidng that it’s incredible to have seniors like him. Jaiswal scored 68 runs off 34 balls, smashing five boundaries and six sixes.
“He tell me to go out there and play my natural game. He asks me to play my shots. He’s always there and he always looks after us. I think it’s incredible to have a senior like him,” said Jaiswal.
He went on to say that it’s a pleasure and hnour to play with Virat Kohli. Jaiswal and Kohli stitched a 57-run stand for the second wicket folloing Rohit’s dismissal in the first over.
“It’s always a pleasure and honour to play with Virat bhaiya. We were having a conversation around where we can play and hit our shots,” Jaiswal added.
India will be looking to clean-sweep the Afghans when they lock horns at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on January 17 for the third and final match of the series.
