If karma strikes Rahul Gandhi back, what’s our fault: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Rahul Gandhi‘s disqualification from the Lok Sabha has nothing to do with politics and was because of the judicial decision. On being asked whether the suspension means that Rahul Gandhi’s political career is over, Himanta said, “No no, you are an opposition leader. You do rallies, meetings, Bharat Jodo Yatra, you go to thehigh court, Supreme Court, but don’t insult a community. It is not right.”

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said according to Hindu belief karma strikes one back and it has nothing to do with the BJP.

The OBC leaders in the Congress are also not happy, the Assam chief minister said.

“If you are not happy with the decision of the judiciary, then go to higher courts. And as far as the matter of disqualification is concerned, Rahul Gandhi himself tore the ordinance that could have saved him from immediate disqualification. If karma strikes him back, then what’s our fault in that? In the Hindu religion, we believe in karma. When Dr Singh was the PM, he brought the ordinance

“Even cases have been filed against that comment in Arunachal Pradesh also as people of that community stay in Arunachal also. Rahul Gandhi should have rendered an apology immediately after the comment. Because a slip of tongue happens. The matter would have been closed. But Rahul Gandhi has not apologised and has not withdrawn the comment for 5 long years. That once again proves that the comment was not unintentional,” the Assam chief minister said.

“Had he rendered an apology, it would not seem like he was apologising to Narendra Modi ji. It would have been an apology to the OBC community. The court had to balance between the arrogance of an individual and the pride and the prestige of a community,” Sarma said.
