Arjun Kapoor’s fitness journey is one for the books, and the Bollywood actor has lost over 50 kgs to become the fit version that we are used to seeing on the big screen. The 36-year-old recently took to Instagram to once again share how his fitness journey started and that his late mother, Mona Kapoor’s teachings helped him to focus on his fitness.
Before making his Bollywood debut with Ishaqzaade in 2012, Arjun was overweight and it was after a lot of hard work and dedication that he has reached the level of fitness he is at today. Speaking about his journey, Arjun shared a collage of before and after images of himself and in the caption he wrote, “Pehle main bohot mota bohot pareshan tha…. No no this is not one of those posts …Just putting it out there that I love every chapter of my life. Those days and even now, I have been myself at every step of the way. I cherish every bit. I’m a work in progress like anyone and everyone else. My mother told me every stage of your life is a journey and you will always be a constant work in progress. I understand the meaning of that now more than ever and I’m loving that I’m working towards bettering myself… every damn day.”
Arjun used to weigh 140kgs and in an interview previously he had shared how he had just accepted that he would convince himself that he was happy as he was, saying, “Being fat was part of my life. Actually, I never wanted to lose weight, content with what I was. But I knew I was lying to myself that I was happy being this way.”
He has also given credit to Salman Khan for helping him shed the weight and said how Salman told him that he could become an actor if he lost weight. He shared, “I travelled with Salman Khan. We worked out together, and he kept a strict vigil on what I was eating. That man knows no pain. He psyched me into becoming a machine that didn’t do anything but lose weight. His dedication, discipline in life rubbed on me, and whatever I am today, I am like this only because of him.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Arjun will be seen sharing screen space with Saif Ali Khan, Yami Gautam and Jacqueline Fernandes in Bhoot Police.
