Ahead of the release of her movie ‘Sardar Ka Grandson’, it seems Neena Gupta is keeping herself busy in the kitchen and relishing a healthy breakfast, which is the best that anyone can do to stay home and stay safe during these testing times. The 61-year-old actress has put up a new post on her Instagram Stories that shows an instant south Indian dish that is delicious and very easy to make – Suji Appe. Neena Gupta is the latest in a long list of celebrities who are relaxing at home during the lockdown and enjoying their time in the kitchen savouring delicious dishes.

Also called Rava Paniyaram or Rava Appe, the presence of suji, or semolina, in this crunchy dish increases feeling of fullness during the start of the day. Suji is high in protein and fibre and is one of the healthiest grains known to Indians. Take a look:

Appe or Paniyaram can be made with leftover dosa or idli batter and can also be had with the evening tea. Neena Gupta previously shared a short video on Instagram in which she said women should cook and eat what they like as they “deserve it”. She said she has noticed that women, especially in India, cook food that their kids or family members like and “it is very rare that we eat the food of our choice”.

Her post was widely appreciated for its social message. One Instagram user, named Shrestha Basu, said, “You are so sweet and bold at the same time. Proud of you.” Take a look:

On the work front, Neena Gupta’s next movie ‘Sardar Ka Grandson’ will release on Netflix on May 18. The actor plays the role of an old lady who has a last wish, which she wants her grandson, played by actor Arjun Kapoor, to fulfill.
