In a heartbreaking turn of events, the joy of 11-year-old Krupali Odedara winning the ‘best garba’ prize was overshadowed by a horrific incident in Porbandar town, Gujarat.
According to a report in The Times of India, the girl’s father fell victim to a brutal attack, allegedly orchestrated by six individuals, including the Navratri event organizers.
Krupali, a double prize-winner, was left in disbelief when only one of her awards was presented to her mother, Mali, who had come to pick her up. When Mali approached garba organizer Raju Keswala to address the discrepancy, she was met with hostility.

Tragically, Sarman, who had been sitting with his wife outside their home, was ambushed by a group on motorcycles at around 2:30am. They mercilessly attacked him with wooden sticks, forcibly took him back to the garba venue and assaulted him further.
Mali, devastated and fearing for her husband’s life, immediately contacted the police and rushed to the venue. Despite efforts, Sarman succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Authorities have filed charges against Keswala, Kuchhadiya, their wives, Pratik Boraniya, Ramde Bokhiriya, and other unidentified individuals, encompassing charges of murder, kidnapping, and rioting.
