Alliant Credit Union Personal Loans Review

You can use an Alliant personal loan for purposes that include consolidating other loans, covering emergency expenses or paying for home improvements. Alliant personal loans may not be used for rent, utility bills, credit card or loan payments, business expenses, or investments.

If you want an Alliant personal loan, you will apply on the Alliant Credit Union website by selecting Personal Loans under the Borrow tab. Click on the Apply Now button. If you are a credit union member, you will log in and apply. Alternatively, you can apply as a new member and then join the credit union if you accept a loan offer.

Borrowers often receive same-day approval and funding.

Alliant offers loans from $1,000 to $100,000. Loan approval and annual percentage rate depend on creditworthiness, ability to repay and payment method, and rates vary based on these factors. Repayment terms are 12, 24, 48 or 60 months. APRs start at 10.49% for 12 and 24 months and 12.49% for 48 and 60 months.

Alliant does not charge origination or prepayment fees if you want to pay off part or all of your loan early. However, late fees may apply if borrowers fail to pay on time; amount and grace period vary.

Anyone who is a member of Alliant Credit Union and meets its underwriting criteria for a personal loan is eligible.

You can join the credit union if you are a current or retired employee of an Alliant U.S. business partner; a domestic partner or immediate family member of an Alliant member; or you live or work in an eligible Chicago-area community. If none of these applies, you can join Foster Care to Success to become eligible for Alliant membership. Alliant will pay the $5 membership fee.

Alliant does not list a minimum credit score required to receive a personal loan. Alliant evaluates a variety of factors when someone applies for a personal loan, including credit score. The lender will also look at your income, your debt-to-income ratio and other aspects of your finances when deciding whether to approve your personal loan.

Alliant Credit Union operates in all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C.

Alliant Credit Union has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. Trustpilot scores Alliant a poor 1.7 out of 5 stars, based on 27 reviews.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau collected three complaints in 2022 related to Alliant Credit Union personal loans. Alliant gave timely responses and closed each with an explanation.
