Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said Hindi unites the diversity of languages in India and it has honoured different Indian as well as global languages and dialects.

Days after sparking controversy with his remark on Sanatana Dharma, Udhayanidhi Stalin of DMK has stirred up another row, now over “Amit Shah showering his love for Hindi language”.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said Hindi unites the diversity of languages in India and it has honoured different Indian as well as global languages and dialects.

In a message on the occasion of “Hindi Diwas”, Amit Shah also said Hindi has never competed nor will compete with any other Indian language and that a strong country will emerge only by strengthening all its languages.

Responding to Shah’s X post, Udhayanidhi Stalin asked where does Hindi unite Tamil Nadu and Kerala “Where does empowerment come in?” Stalin said.

“Hindi unites the people of the country – empowers the regional languages,” said Union Minister Amit Shah, as usual, showering his love for the Hindi language. This idea is an alternative form of shouting that if you study Hindi, you can progress,” Stalin wrote in his post on X.Stalin added: “Tamil in Tamil Nadu – Malayalam in Kerala. Where does Hindi unite these two states? Where does empowerment come in?” Udhayanidhi Stalin said it is “absurd to say Hindi spoken in four or five states unites the entire Indian Union”.

“Amit Shah should stop denigrating languages other than Hindi as regional languages,” Udhayanidhi said with the hashtag – #StopHindiImposition.
