Kerala police arrested a businessman, his wife and daughter in connection with the infamous Kollam kidnapping case. The accused, Padmakumar, his wife Anithakumari and daughter Anupama were taken into custody for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old girl in Kerala.

According to the police, Padmakumar runs a cable business and was going through a financial crisis during post Covid-10 pandemic and was planning to execute something like this for the past year.

According to the police, Padmakumar is an engineering graduate while his homemaker wife Anitha Kumari, and their daughter Anupama Padman are Youtubers.

ADGP MR Ajith Kumar said the first fake number plate. that was used while kidnapping the kid was made almost a year back. They planned to roam around in the city to spot kids who were easy to kidnap. A week back they saw these two children and thought them to be easy targets.

“This was a very well-planned kidnapping and they knew how the police would investigate so they didn’t use their mobile phone,” said Kumar.

During the interrogation, Padmakumar said that they did not expect that the girl’s minor brother would resist so much and that caused a delay to their original plan.

The accused further said that they gave the girl a tablet to make her unconscious and brought her home. They went to Paripally but didn’t want to use their phone so made the ransom call from a shop.

When the news of the kidnapping grabbed national headlines, they panicked and wanted to abandon the child. Even on the ground, the accused waited for the college students to appear so they could spot the child.

The six-year-old girl, who was kidnapped while going home from tuition with her elder brother, was found abandoned at a public ground here the next day. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Palakkad confirmed that the investigation had achieved significant progress.

“The main accused are in police custody. Police will divulge further details,” Vijayan told a press conference here. He lavished praise on the police force for apprehending the accused.
