It’s festive time in India, so this is your best chance to pick up a great deal on iPhones, especially the older models. We’ve already got a teaser for what’s to come in the next few weeks and one of the exciting developments is the special price offer on the iPhone 12 model, which can be picked up for as low as Rs 32,999 with all the offers in place.
This iPhone model is now more than three years old but only because this is an Apple most of you might consider buying it, especially for its mentioned price tag. But should you consider buying the iPhone 12 for Rs 32,999 or any figure below 35K in the market? Well, to be fair, the iPhone 12 was introduced in October 2020 around the time we had the pandemic.
Since then, Apple has launched the iPhone 13 series, 14 series and this year we got the 15 series. The company has generally offered a 5-years iOS update support and in some cases even gone to 6 years.
So, if you buy the iPhone 12 in 2023 for Rs 32,999 then you will most likely get up to iOS 19 version, after which Apple will offer a few more years of security updates. That gives you 4 years effective product life, which is not bad in general.
Going purely by specs, what you get with the iPhone 12 is the A14 Bionic chip, decent dual rear cameras, a wide notch for the screen. However, you get a slow-charging battery, which isn’t the case if you opt for an Android phone in this range. You might argue that the iPhone buyers never base their purchase on specs but in this case, it is vital that they see the value they get for spending over Rs 30,000.
And here’s the other thing. The iPhone 12 deal price of Rs 32,999 isn’t straight forward, as it includes Rs 3,000 for bank offer and another Rs 3,000 is applicable if you exchange your old phone, which might not even get you the full amount. All things said, if you really want to spend over Rs 30,000 on the older iPhones during the special sales in the coming weeks, we’d suggest you to consider the iPhone 13 or even the iPhone 14 models.
