The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) recently released a set of guidelines for candidates who are going to appear for the Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET). According to the schedule, the CSEET will take place on November 4 and will be followed by another session on January 6, 2024.

The CSEET mock test is scheduled to be held today, November 1. “To familiarize the candidates with the remote proctoring process, the Institute has decided to conduct a mock test for 2 hours durations on 1st November 2023,” reads the official notice.

The ICSI, India’s governing authority for company secretaries, has emphasised many key considerations that candidates should be aware of:

1. The Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test will be administered remotely rather than at a test centre. Candidates may take the CSEET at home using their own laptop or desktop computer. However, mobile phones, tablets, and palmtops are not permitted in the tests. The students will be continually supervised by the supervisor, known as the proctor, via video or audio mode, just as if they were taking the test at a facility.

2. The admission exam lasts two hours. Each paper in the computer-based CSEET in the MCQ format has four portions of 50 marks each. These topics cover Quantitative Aptitude, Business Communication, Economic and Business Environment, Legal Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning.

3. In order to ensure their attendance in the test, candidates must have their admit card, government-issued identification card, passport, driver’s licence, PAN card, UID Aadhaar card, and voter card on hand for verification by the remote proctors.

4. Students will be requested to download, install, and test Safe Exam Browser, SEBLite on their desktop or laptop prior to taking the CSEET. SEBLite will not be removed until CSEET has been properly completed or submitted. If a candidate is unable to download the Safe Exam Browser for any reason, he or she will be unable to begin the exam, and no questions will be answered in this respect.

5. Candidates must check in to the exam portal 30 minutes before the test time. No candidate shall be authorised to appear in the test after 15 minutes of its start, and no candidate shall be permitted to complete the exam until 90 minutes of its commencement.

6. To pass the CSEET, candidates must secure at least 40 per cent marks in each exam, i.e., Paper-1, Paper-2, Paper-3, and Paper-4 separately, and 50 per cent marks in the aggregate of all papers taken together. There will be no negative grading for incorrect responses.
