Bengal veteran Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead a 13-member India A squad for the upcoming four-day match against England Lions, which will be preceded by a warm-up fixture.
The India A squad for the warm-up and the first unofficial Test against the England Lions consists of 13 players. Notably, some players such as Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Tilak Varma, Avesh Khan, and Rinku Singh are missing from the squad as they are likely to participate in India’s T20I series against Afghanistan starting on January 11. The warm-up game against the England Lions is set to commence on January 12.
The squad includes promising talents like B Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, and Pradosh Ranjan Paul, who are all eyeing a spot in the middle order of the Indian Test team. KS Bharat, who served as the reserve wicketkeeper during the South Africa Tests, is also part of the squad along with other notable players.
The warm-up fixture will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium ‘B’ Ground in Ahmedabad, while the three unofficial Tests will take place at the main stadium, with the first match beginning on January 17. This series presents an opportunity for Abhimanyu Easwaran to make a strong case for his inclusion in the Indian Test side, especially with a five-match Test series against England on the horizon, starting on January 25.
